A different view of sledding

We also went sledding on Saturday at Discovery Kingdom, aka Marine World Africa USA, on man-made snow. At least we didn't have to trudge through the snow -- you grab a sled at the bottom and walk up a paved path, then up a few steps, where a worker pushes you down the slope. Easy. Emma giggles like crazy in these videos, with two taken from her viewpoint as she sits on my lap.

Kid rides

Lots of kid rides at Discovery Kingdom, but check with park officials first to be sure all are operating when you go. Emma loves them all, but especially the balloon ride. Her laughter and smiles especially worth viewing at end of second video here.

Dolphin adventure

We went to Marine World in Vallejo on Saturday, and Emma got to see a few dolphins chase her along the wall. The animal/amusement park is now called Discovery Kingdom, a Six Flags property, but many may know it as Marine World. I used to go there when it was in Redwood City. We didn't do the Dolphin Discovery where you pay to join the dolphins in the water or feed them and pet them, we just went to side of tank.

Skate patrol

We went ice skating (or I should say Kris and Emma went because I gave up after two failed trips around the ice) on the day after Christmas in downtown Walnut Creek. This video is short because I was shooting it on the ice with my new Flip Mino video recorder when I was busted by a volunteer for taking pictures on the ice. It turns out it's a danger to take photos or videos on the ice, so I stopped rolling.

More Christmas

More Christmas Day in Fremont for Emma.

Opening gifts in Fremont

Emma opens more gifts at Grandma and Grandpa's house in Fremont.

Christmas morning, 2008

The joy of opening Christmas presents, and later playing with them. Santa was kind to Emma.

Digital Emma starts: Dec. 27, 2008

This is the beginning of Digital Emma, a weekly, or possibly daily, update through photos and video of Emma as she grows. She's now 4. Don't expect much writing for this blog, although there will be occasional commentary and analysis from her parents, and comments from relatives are always welcomed. This video is for all to view, but meant for her family and mostly, her grandparents. It will be an easy way to keep up to date on what she's doing. The video above is from ice skating in downtown Walnut Creek on Dec. 26, 2008. Her dad got a Flip Video for Christmas and is using it all too often.
